RHISP athlete and wheelchair fencer, Cat Bouwkamp, won a gold medal in the foil and a silver medal in epee at the Wheelchair Fencing Pan American Championships in Campinas, Brazil in August, 2011. Cat is the top ranked female wheelchair fencer in the United States in epee, foil, and saber. By winning the Gold Medal in Brazil, Cat qualified to fence and represent Team USA at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London! In 2013 Bouwkamp traveled to Richmond Virginia for the 2013 United States Wheelchair Fencing National Championships. Once again, she came out of the Nationals with a Gold Medal in Epee, Foil, and Saber retaining her title as the #1 ranked female wheelchair fencer in the United States! On July 7th, 2013 Bouwkamp brought home the bronze medal in the epee category at the Junior World Championships in Warsaw Poland.
