Heartland Regional Brings Murderball Home, February 18-20 February 1st, 2011

Looking for a hard-hitting, slam banging, gut-wrenching good time?   Then Murderball (Quad Rugby) is the answer.

Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Sports Program (RHISP) is proud to support the “Heartland Regional” Quad Rugby tournament at The Sports Zone, 6601 Coffman Road Indianapolis, IN 46268, on Feb. 18-20.
The Sports Zone has  kindly opened their doors to host a spectacular event and welcome Indiana’s own Quad Rugby team and 7 other Quad Rugby teams from across the United States.  Murderball or Quad Rugby is a fast paced, full contact wheelchair sport played indoors on a modified basketball court by individuals with some loss of function in all four limbs.

“The weekend is going to be thrilling,” said Jacob Patrick , tournament director. “This sport is hard-core and has gained such a following throughout the world.  Spectators love it!”
Indiana’s only Quad Rugby Team, the RHI Indy Brawlers, was founded in 1998 and consists of 15 players plus support staff.  There are over 35 teams in the U.S.A. and more than 400 players that actively participate nationwide.
Some Brawler players are so passionate about the game they drive up to 2 hours distance one-way just to make it to practice every week!!  The team also believes in passing on their can-do attitudes and raising awareness about disability by performing Quad Rugby demos throughout schools in Indiana spreading the message to kids “It’s okay to be different!”
