Overview
No two brain injuries are alike and every case demands a holistic and individualistic approach to receiving the best care. With an estimated 5.3 million people living in America with a disability resulting from a brain injury, the technology, research and optimal ways to treat brain injuries is ever-evolving. RHI is proud to be on the front lines of this charge through cutting-edge research and development pertaining to treatments, expectations and effects of brain injuries. RHI offers a program dedicated solely to brain injuries.

 

 

Treatment
The holistic therapeutic approach that RHI offers to patients who suffer brain injuries cannot be standardized. Every case is different and treated on a case-by-case basis. RHI has a team of experts and caregivers dedicated solely to brain injury treatment. Some of the treatment that can be expected from RHI includes:

 

Inpatient

  • The Brain Injury Rehab program aims to improve the quality of life of every patient.
  • Each patient will participate in activities that utilize state-of-the-art equipment and technology that is designed specifically for brain injury treatment and improvement.
  • As a patient faces the different challenges that come along with the recovery process from a brain injury, their families will be an intricate part of the treatment process. Family is an invaluable member of the progression of every patient.
  • RHI does its best to provide an environment that feels as close to home as possible by:
    • Asking patients to maintain a daily schedule.
    • Asking patients to bring their personal items like clothes and other elements that make them feel more comfortable.
    • Providing the resources and equipment for patients to continuously grow.

 

Outpatient
After a patient is discharged from inpatient therapy, they will enter Brain Injury Rehab outpatient therapy where they will visit RHI three times a week for up to three hours per visit. Each patient will can expect individual attention from our expert staff, along with some of these benefits and expectations:

  • Treatment 2-3 Times Per Week
  • 1-on-1 Physical Therapy Sessions
  • 1-on-1 Occupational Therapy Sessions
  • Necessary transportation needs to and from the facility
  • Any necessary equipment for rehab
  • Improvement of quality of life

 

Follow Up
In order to ensure a safe transition home, RHI’s Brain Injury Rehab follow-up care will see patients on an “as needed” basis determined by the patient and RHI professionals. RHI will continuously serve as a resource and referral source for specialists, vocational rehabilitation, vision, spasticity, wheelchair seating and positioning, driver’s evaluation, RHI Sports Program, the Dr. Lisa Thompson Center for Family Education, and more.
