Neuropsychology

Overview

People who come to RHI because they’ve suffered a brain injury or stroke don’t need a diagnosis - they need to know whether they will ever return back to their normal lives again. They need to know if they’ll be able to function adequately in their home environments. RHI will treat the condition, but beyond that, RHI offers a holistic approach to treating the entire person – physically, emotionally and socially – improving their quality of life. An integral piece to this holistic approach is the Neuropsychology service we offer patients who have suffered a brain injury or stroke.

What is a neuropsychologist?

A neuropsychologist is a psychologist who specializes in studying brain behavior. They are extensively trained in the pathology, anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. Some neuropsychologists specialize in research and development, while others specialize in evaluating and treating people who have suffered a traumatizing injury to their brain. RHI is equipped with a staff of neuropsychologists who specialize in both areas of the discipline – helping the RHI team deliver better outcomes for all our patients.

Why you may need neuropsychology –

RHI offers neuropsychological assessments and tests that will help doctors and patients understand the type of injury suffered and determine the necessary steps in reaching an optimal outcome in recovery. If you or someone you know has experienced any of these symptoms because of a traumatic experience, please contact RHI for a neuropsychological test today:

  • Memory loss
  • Difficulty communicating
  • Difficulty writing or reading
