The newest team on the NBBA roster, the RHI X-TREME, brought home their first tournament win as they took first place and the honor of tourney champs in the 2011 Bolingbrook Bash held in Bolingbrook, Illinois, June 10-12, 2011.
In their first season, the RHI X-TREME went undefeated by winning their first game against the Austin Blackhawks, 12-3, their second game against the Chicago Comets, 16-9 and their third game against the Minnesota Fighting Lions 6-5 to round out the first day (Saturday) of competition.
The championship game was played on Sunday morning, against the Colorado Storm- the winners of last year’s Bolingbrook Bash. The X-TREME beat the Storm 11-8 to take home the trophy this year!To conclude the weekend, three X-TREME players were honored with medals for their exceptional weekend play. Dave Benney, took the third place medal making the all-offensive team with a .615 batting average, while Adam Rodenbeck took the second place medal for batting a .647.
Clint Woodard was also honored with a fourth place medal for making the all-defensive tourney team with 13 put-outs. Congratulations to the RHI X-TREME, and a very special thank you to all the volunteers, drivers, and sponsors that give graciously to make times like this possible! As a team, we are truly grateful for all you do. Don’t forget to come see the team in action at the 2011 World Series being held in Indianapolis August 1-6!
