RHI Sports Spring Bash A Smashing Success! April 4th, 2013

Saturday, March 23rd and Sunday, March 24th the RHI sports Program hosted the RHI Sports Spring Bash adult wheelchair basketball tournament. This tournament took place at The Gathering Place at Greenwood Community Church.  Nine championship division teams from all over the country including, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Austin (TX), Pennsylvania, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and our very own RHI Pacers played for the Spring Bash title.

The #3 ranked RHI Pacers played very well on Saturday, with wins over Chicago Bulls, RIC Hornets, and Bay City Thunder and Lightning. Then they played on Sunday against the #2 ranked Milwaukee Bucks for the championship title. The game started off well for the Pacers as they came away with a lead at halftime, but unfortunately Milwaukee was able to come back in the second half and win a close one 67-64. This ended the Pacers 12 game winning streak.

The RHI Pacers finished the regular season with a 22 – 8 record and head to nationals ranked number 3 in the NWBA championship division. Nationals are being held April 18th -21st in Louisville, Kentucky.
